Motion Graphic

A brief set by The Cameron Day Charitable Trust for their 2025 Roullete Competition.
‘Spin the wheel, take a Chance’ the only constraints of this brief were the statements we had the luck of getting after spinning a wheel for them.
Whether it was a passion project or a personal story, all it had to be was a strong idea.

The idea was to create a piece that simulates what it's like to live with ADHD through the movement of graphical elements.

The choice to use bright red on blue—and vice versa—grabs the attention of the viewer, but also simulates a feeling of intensity. When these colours meet, they create an effect on the eye that distorts and blurs the edges, making it difficult to focus. It’s important that this piece educates, and so the loud, intrusive, yet playful nature pushes for the attention of the viewer—to listen and hear the narrative being told.

I wanted a certain unpredictability to the film—to surprise at each transition and to create a seamless trail of thoughts and ideas, much like how a brain might think. These flowing thoughts come full circle, allowing the film to be played on repeat and enabling the viewer to enter at any point in the sequence. The addition of sound is essential to this outcome, bringing weight and life to each scene.

Having the red-on-blue shift to blue-on-red as the film repeats was a late decision in the making of the piece. I liked how the blue gave space for the animations to sit within and breathe, while the red did the opposite—creating an intensity and overwhelming nature. The two colours work together to push the viewer’s eye toward the movement.
